A few years ago, I started thinking “When I retire, I will become a clown and give hugs to people in need”. Then in my time of need in 2010, I joined the real Patch Adams on my first clowning trip to Mexico. There I learnt that “clowning is caring” and caring takes on many different forms: holding a hand, giving and receiving a smile, acknowledging someone’s pain, just being present, allowing silence to be comfortable, being of service, or celebrating with others.

I have been facepainting, balloon twisting, clowning, and caring ever since by spending time with others and giving back to our community, by supporting events such as the Make a Wish Foundation.
