Arlyn's Wish to Have a Western Show Saddle

Arlyn loves horses. She loves riding, showing, and taking care of horses. Equestrian life is her true passion. Arlyn even wants to study equine sciences at Olds College.

Her passion is what made her wish so great, receiving a stunning, custom, western show saddle, designed by Dale Chavez. Alongside the saddle, which is embellished with silver and copper, Arlyn also received a head stall, saddle blanket, and a saddle bag— all the puzzle pieces needed to show her horse, Princess!

Arlyn received her wish on April 29th, World Wish Day! Her family, friends and our Make-A-Wish volunteers and employees, were there to celebrate. Dave and Carol Stinton, the founders of the Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta, were also present to make this an extra special occasion. The owners of the Prairie Mountain Ranch kindly allowed Arlyn to practice showing Princess in their arena with all her new equestrian gear.

Arlyn's family was so grateful for the wish. “It made her so happy, we’ve had such a tremendously stressful year— the timing was just really great,” Arlyn's mom explained. "It was an amazing and uplifting experience for Arlyn".

Once the saddle was presented to Arlyn, she gave a demo with Princess and her beautiful new saddle and then friends and family shared a cake. It was a calm, yet meaningful experience for Arlyn and her family.

“She was vibrating, she was so excited,” Vickie Sauve, Wish Coordinator, commented on Arlyn’s reaction to being presented with her wish. Arlyn will be showing Princess this May using her brand new saddle.

Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta would like to thank all the volunteers and supporters who helped make Arlyn’s wish a reality.
