Liam Wishes to have a sensory room

Liam is a happy, active boy who has Wilms tumour and is non-verbal. The perfect wish for Liam was a sensory room in his home. It would be a comfortable place for him that would be tailored to address his unique sensory processing needs.

Thanks to Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta donors and volunteers, Liam’s room was equipped with sensory equipment and activities put in the room to stimulate each of his senses. When the sensory room was revealed to Liam, he was overjoyed. The room contained a bubble tube, black light, vibrating bench, paint brushes, weighted blanket, projection screen and special lighting. The room is a place of refuge for Liam; providing a safe space for him to start his day or wind-down before bedtime.

Everyone in Liam’s family benefits from the special room, it a place to relax and unwind. Liam’s mom, Jamie, says it has had a positive impact on their entire family.

Make-A-Wish would like to thank KPMG for adopting this wish.
