McKenzie Wishes To Swim With A Dolphin

McKenzie is six years old and lives with Acute myeloid leukemia. When she found out she would be granted a wish, she knew she would wish to swim with the dolphins in Hawaii.

When you first meet McKenzie, you immediately notice the twinkle in her eye and her shy smile. She is a happy little girl who loves gymnastics, karate and swimming.

On the day McKenzie and her family left for her wish to go to Hawaii to swim with dolphins, she was given a very special send-off by WestJet. There were musicians, a hula dancer and a monitor that said “Aloha McKenzie”! She was even entertained by a group of young local dancers. She was feeling pretty special. A huge thank you to WestJet for sponsoring McKenzie’s wish through the Adopt-A-Wish® program in support of Make-A-Wish® Canada’s 30th anniversary.

McKenzie and her family spent a wonderful week in Hawaii, where they participated in a hula lesson, a luau and lots of pool time. McKenzie claimed that, “Playing in the pool was one of my favourite things to do.” She even practiced swimming with an inflatable dolphin to prepare for the real thing!

On her wish day, she had lots of fun swimming with a dolphin. “This was one of my favourite parts of the trip—swimming with the dolphins,” McKenzie said.

McKenzie and her family spent the rest of their time enjoying the waterslide at the resort, playing in the pool and on the beach, going on a hike and making the most of their time in Hawaii.

“It was so magical! I will never forget this trip," said McKenzie.
